Once upon a time, there lived a king. He had a beautiful daughter. She liked to play with her golden ball by the pond near the forest. | |

One day, the princess accidentally let the ball fall into the pond by mistake.
"Oops! Oh, no!"
"Splash!"
She tried to find her ball in the pond, but the water was too deep. | |

The princess began to cry very loudly. An ugly frog sitting on a rock by the pond heard her.
"Boo-hoo-hoo! Now what will I do? I have lost my golden ball forever!"
"What is the matter, Princess? Why are you crying?"

공주는 아주 크게 울기 시작했답니다. 연못 옆에 있는 바위 위에 앉아있던 못생긴 개구리 한 마리가 그 소리를 들었습니다.
"흑흑! 이제 어떻게 하지? 내 금 공을 아주 잃어 버렸어!"
"무슨 일이에요. 공주님? 왜 울고 있죠?" |

"I am crying because my golden ball fell into the pond."
"Do not cry. I can help you!"
'How can this ugly frog help me?' | |

"이 연못에다 내 금 공을 빠뜨려서 울고 있단다"
"울지 마세요. 제가 도와 드릴 수 있어요!"
'어, 이렇게 못생긴 개구리가 어떻게 나를 도울 수 있지?' |

"Hmm. What will you give me for finding your golden ball?"
"I will give you whatever you want, dear frog. I will give you my jewels. I will even give you the golden crown I am wearing." | |

"흠, 내가 당신의 금 공을 찾아주면 제게 뭘 주시겠어요?"
"개구리야, 네가 원하는 모든 것을 줄께. 내 보석을 줄께. 내가 쓰는 금 왕관까지 네게 줄께." |

"I do not want your jewels or your crown. But promise me this: Let me sit by you. And eat with you. And then, you must kiss me too. Promise me! Then, I will go down into the pond and get your ball." | |

공주는 아주 기분이 좋았습니다. 그러나 그녀는 그 공을 집어 들고는 바삐 가버렸습니다.
"기다려요, 기다려! 나를 데려가주세요. 난 당신처럼 빨리 달리 수 없어요." |

But the princess pretended not to hear him. She ran back to her castle and closed the door.
"The frog is talking nonsense. The forest is the right place for a frog. Life in the castle is not for him!" | |

그러나 공주는 개구리 소리를 못 들은 체 했습니다. 그녀는 성으로 돌아가서는 문을 닫아버렸습니다. "그 개구리는 말도 안되는 소리를 하고 있어. 숲이 개구리에게는 딱 맞는 곳이야. 성 안에서의 생활은 그에게 안 맞아." |

The next day, the frog hopped up to the castle door. The frog knocked on the door.
"Oh, Princess! Princess! Open the door for me."
"Oh, no! It is the ugly frog! Make him go away!" | |

그 다음날, 개구리는 성문까지 폴짝 뛰어 왔습니다. 그리고 문을 두드렸답니다. "오, 공주님! 공주님! 문 좀 열어주세요."
"아니, 안돼! 그 못생긴 개구리일거야! 그를 멀리 보내버려!" |

The servant went to the door and told the frog to leave immediately. She slammed the door in the poor frog's face. | |

시녀는 문으로 가서 개구리에게 당장 떠나라고 말했습니다. 그녀는 문으로 불쌍한 개구리의 얼굴을 내리쳤습니다. |

"Princess, Princess! Open the door for me. Keep the promise you made to me. If you don't open the door, I will cry here day and night until you do! Open the door!" | |

"공주님, 공주님! 문을 열어주세요. 저에게 한 약속을 지키세요. 문을 열지 않는다면, 이곳에서 밤이고 낮이고 울 거에요. 문 좀 열어주세요!" |

The king noticed that his daughter was frightened by something.
"My child, what are you afraid of? Is there something scary outside?"
"No, it is nothing. It is only a disgusting frog!" | |

임금님은 그의 딸이 무엇에 겁을 먹었다는 것을 알게 되었습니다.
"얘야, 무엇을 두려워하느냐? 밖에 어떤 무서운 것이 있니?

She then told her father how the frog had helped her.
"Dear child, you must keep your promise to the frog. A promise is a promise. Go and let him in!" | |

"애야, 약속은 약속이잖니. 네가 지키지 않을 것이라면 약속을 하지 말았어야지." |

The princess did not want to go near the frog, but she could not disobey her father.
"Now push your golden plate nearer to me. I am hungry and I want to eat together with you." | |

공주는 개구리 가까이에 가고 싶지 않았으나 아버지를 거역할 수는 없었습니다.
"자 이제, 당신의 황금 접시를 나에게 좀더 가까이 밀어주세요. 나는 배가 고프고 당신과 함께 먹고 싶거든요." |

The frog enjoyed all of the food, but the princess could hardly eat because she did not want to be near the ugly frog. | |
| |
개구리는 아주 흡족하게 모든 음식을 먹었습니다. 그러나 공주는 거의 먹을 수가 없었습니다. 왜냐면 그 못생긴 개구리 옆에 있고 싶지 않았기 때문이었습니다. |

"Dear Princess, it is time for you to kiss me! If you do not, I will tell your father!"
"Oh! Noooo!" | |

"공주님, 이제는 나에게 키스를 해줄 시간이에요. 키스해주시지 않으면 당신의 아버지께 말할 거예요."
"오! 안돼!" |

The princess grabbed the frog and threw him against the wall.
"Now you will be quiet, you ugly frog!"
"Ohh!"
The frog was very still. | |

공주는 개구리를 집어서 벽을 향해 던졌습니다.
"이제는 조용히 하겠지. 못생긴 개구리야!"
"아!"
개구리는 꼼짝도 하지 않았습니다. |

"Oh, is he dead? Oh, my! What have I done!"
The princess was frightened. She picked up the ugly frog very carefully, but the frog still did not move. The princess felt very sorry for him. | |

"오, 죽었나? 오, 어떻게! 내가 무슨 짓을 한 거지!"
공주는 겁에 질렸습니다. 그녀는 그 못생긴 개구리를 아주 조심스럽게 들어올렸으나 그 개구리는 여전히 움직이질 않았습니다. 공주는 그에게 무척이나 미안했습니다. |

And she kissed the frog as she cried. | |

Suddenly, with a bright flash of light, the ugly frog turned into a handsome prince. | |

갑자기, 반짝하는 밝은 빛이 번쩍하면서, 못생긴 개구리는 잘생긴 왕자님으로 변했습니다. |

|
"Wow! You broke the spell! A long time ago, a wicked witch turned me into an ugly frog just because I did not like her. Only the kiss of a beautiful princess could save me. Thank you, dear Princess!" | |
| |
"와! 당신이 나의 주문을 깨트렸어요! 오래 전에 못된 마녀가 내가 그녀를 좋아하지 않는다는 이유로, 나를 못생긴 개구리로 만들었어요. 아름다운 공주의 입맞춤 만이 나를 구할 수 있었답니다. 고마워요, 공주님!" |

The princess was overjoyed at the change. In no time at all, the prince and the princess fell in love and were married. And they lived happily ever after. | |

공주는 변한 모습에 너무 기뻤습니다. 곧 왕자와 공주는 사랑을 하게 되었고 결혼 하였답니다. 그리고는 영원히 행복하게 살았답니다. |
